Olancho is the largest department in Honduras, and coffee from this region (part of the Agalta coffee macro-zone) is renowned for its classic, noble, and incredibly balanced flavor profile.
The coffee is grown by small family cooperatives under the shade of dense forests at altitudes ranging from 1,200 to 1,600 meters above sea level.
The region is partially sheltered by mountain ranges, which create a distinctive, drier microclimate. This unique environment allows the coffee cherries to mature evenly.
Coffee from Olancho undergoes a classic washed process. The beans are carefully washed with water and sun-dried on patios, resulting in an exceptionally clean and transparent cup profile.
